The purpose of the Book 'Em Event is to raise public awareness of the connection between high illiteracy rates and high crime rates. Throughout the year, the Book 'Em Foundation partners with other non-profits, such as the Reading Council and Friends of the Library, to increase literacy rates in the community, and with non-profits such as Crime Stoppers, who help police solve crimes by paying anonymous callers for information. The Book 'Em Foundation is also involved directly with the Waynesboro Police Department and will be working directly with the community, courts, and law enforcement in efforts to decrease crime and increase literacy rates.

However, we do not receive ANY money from taxpayer dollars. ALL of the Foundation's money comes from private donations and fund-raising activities.

Therefore, we are asking that each author donate a portion of each book sold during the event to the Book 'Em Foundation. The minimum donation is 40%, which is the minimum discount to retailers. Many publishers have been very generous in donating 100% of the book sales to the Foundation.

There will be a centralized cashier at Book 'Em. Please write the complete address where the proceeds due to you or your publisher are to be mailed (payment will be mailed within 48 hours of the event):

Please list each book that you will have at Book 'Em 2005 in the space below. If you are bringing multiple formats of a book, please indicate the format in parentheses following the title. For each title, indicate the genre and the audience (children, teen, adult, etc). List the ISBN and the retail price, and indicate the percent of each book sold that will be donated to the Book 'Em Foundation.
